Housing for Spring Transfer Students

Transfer students are encouraged to make their housing arrangements early — well before arriving in Los Angeles. The availability of university housing for spring semester can be especially difficult to predict.

Students who wish to live in university housing or in USC-managed properties should visit housing.usc.edu or review the Living at USC: Upperclassmen and Graduate Students brochure to learn more about available housing. Be sure to apply for housing as soon as possible, as spaces fill quickly.

USC Apartments

Apartments — units with one or two double-occupancy bedrooms and a full kitchen — enable students to lead a more independent lifestyle, with more space and privacy.

USC Residence Halls

Residence halls offer the traditional college housing experience, with double-occupancy rooms and community bathrooms, plus a required meal plan.

Suites

Suites can accommodate up to eight residents, with four double-occupancy rooms and two bathrooms. Suites in Fluor Tower are clustered around a central living space. Visit the USC Housing website to view available buildings and floor plans.

Special Interest Floors

Special interest (SI) communities bring together students with a shared cultural, career or academic interest. Featuring special programming and activities, these communities can help students transition to life at USC and forge friendships that last well after graduation.

Transfer students and upperclassmen may wish to consider:
  • The Multimedia program in Annenberg House, ideal for those majoring in engineering, programming, journalism or related fields.
  • Honors House, a small, off-campus residence hall–style facility that features a vegetarian meal plan.
  • The SChalom and Muslim Floors in the Parkside Apartments, which allow residents to prepare meals according to the dietary guides of their faiths, while programming encourages cultural exploration.

Off-Campus Housing

Most transfer students prefer to live off-campus in privately owned apartments. Although USC cannot assist students in searching for off-campus housing, a number of resources are available to help you find suitable arrangements. The Daily Trojan, USC’s student-run newspaper, publishes classified ads for available rentals, as do the Los Angeles Times.
